Tufnell Park took to the Alps with this year’s Christmas theme. There were dirndls in evidence, sledges, glüwein, pretzels and snow, snow, snow… The little cable cars strung all across the hall, dangling the children’s good wishes for the world, were given an additional dimension by dramatic projections of pine forests and icy peaks. Nothing says, “I’m in the mood for dancing” like a view of the Matterhorn, and the children partied like mad.
More people came and more people helped than ever before – and if that’s becoming a theme, long may it continue.
Thanks at thousand times to Caroline Colijn and Fiona Cushley for almost all the pictures.
- How do we get to Tufnell Park tonight?
- Down the silver corridor…
- …to where Santa awaits with his bucket full of sweeties!
- Parents want some too.
- Elf control.
- Aw, he was lovely.
- Meanwhile, back in the spectacularly lit and decorated hall…
- Christmas songs from Year 6s.
- Spectacular cakes for sale.
- Spectacular cake ladies selling them.
- And chocolate marshmallows… mmmmm.
- Grandparents helped, too (if they’d never worked a chocolate fountain before, you couldn’t tell).
- Glamorous kitchen volunteers (thank you, ladies)
- Hot dogs always do a brisk trade.
- The already-famous new snow pit.
- It was worth the constant sweeping (thank you, parents)
- Outside the snow-pit, the spa and craft tables.
- Always popular!
- Lovely teaching staff helped out too.
- Lucky dip (more “snow”) was another popular new activity.
- “Made my snowflake – time to dance!”
- And here’s the man to help them do it – fantastic parent-DJ, Matt, at his final Winter Wonderland.
- More of those beautiful little cars and wishes.
- Who enjoys the dress-up photo booth the most?
- In the lobby, governors will help you part with your cash.
- Governors help governors, in fact.
- Time to call the winner of the 50/50 draw…
- She won (the one without the glow-ears) – and donated it right back to the school.
- Happy punters visiting Santa.
- At the craft table…
- …selling hot chocolate…
- …and in the spirit!
- My mum’s an elf.
- It’s been a long haul for the organisers, but they’re still on form.
- Cashing up!
- That’s the end of a very good night.
