Christmas holidays are so 2013, aren’t they? If you really want New Year fun, you have to go to school! So to remind you just how fun it can be, we’ve posted pictures of NSPCC Number Day, back in December, and the associated antics of Bubblz the Maths Clown.
It’s maths! It’s clowning! It couldn’t be more exciting!
Watch out for more posts and information in PACT folders about the school’s Maths Week, coming up in February. We’ll be looking for parents with relevant skills and experience to contribute. Please consider whether you might be someone who can lend a hand.
Other initiatives this term include the development of a new school website: we want your comments, questions and suggestions. Look out for a letter and meetings about that in the first half of term.
And don’t forget that Tufnell Park School Weight Loss Club starts again on Tuesday 14th January, 7pm in the Nursery. Well, it can’t ALL be fun…
There was a spectacular array of numbers streaming into school this morning… For everyone who worked so hard on costumes, we thought you’d like a quick update!
There’s SO much you can do when you divide 10 by 2…
Whatever Bubblz is up to –
– it’s got them interested!
Send us your pictures! We’ll post a gallery later in the week.
It’s December! If you’re not Christmas shopping now, we assume you never will be… So please, before you make your next online shopping click, sign up for easyfundraising using this link. By following the instructions, a proportion of what you spend online at 2,700 of Britain’s most popular retailers will be donated to our school. It really is easy.
How old am I?
Every penny gets spent on our kids – like the incredible bubbly maths show being funded by the HSA for NSPCC Number Day on Tuesday. It’s the first event in the programme of curriculum support we’re calling, “Learning Treats”.
For the Number Day dress-up challenge, we’ve also been on the look out for costume inspiration. Those digits – they’re everywhere!
Finally, in keeping with Tuesday’s fundraising aim, another Cygnus mum drew our attention to the NSPCC’s Letter from Santa scheme. It’s a sweet way to raise more funds for the charity and give a child a lovely surprise. Keep the ideas coming!
If you think of yourself as an “arts person” or a “maths person”, think again! Perseus class are working with artist Veronika Seifert on an absorbing maths-based art project, facilitated by Acland Burghley school‘s Community Arts Co-ordinator, Basil Olton.
Perseus class’s young artists – or are they mathematicians? Both, of course!
Intrigued? The results will be displayed in the school reception area in a couple of weeks time – with luck, in time for NSPCC Number Day, Tuesday 3rd December.
On Number Day, we will be fundraising for this vitally important children’s charity with a slew of maths-based events, including a Dressing up with Digits costume day (£1 to participate), maths challenges involving our teachers and, we hope, a very special visitor to the school…
Watch your PACT folders and this site – there’s more news to come!
