It’s summer term already and our Summer Fair is on Saturday 12th July. Please bring your ideas and offers of help to the HSA Committee meeting this Wednesday at 8:00pm in the café bar of the Tufnell Park Tavern.
Back to the drawing board… it’s time to plan the 2014 Summer Fair.
If you’ve got any free time on Saturday 10th May, do come to the school from 9:00am to help with the annual clear-out and reorganisation of the HSA shed as we gear up to fair season.
In a particularly thrilling development, we have been given our OWN SHED under the rock-solid control of resources manager, Mags Wild. Every silver lining has a cloud, though, and we’ve got a lot of stuff to schlep from the old shed to the new one. Please help.
Speaking of rocks, a certain Alan Baldwin has been sourcing possible boulders for the infants’ playground in advance of Business in the Community’s volunteer day – 16th May. It’s coming up fast. We need parents to join the volunteer team from Flamingo Consultants in setting up, planting, painting and stenciling on the day, plus donations of food and drink to give all our volunteers a great picnic lunch. Oh, and thanks, Alan – but you know that’s going to exceed your baggage allowance.
Just when you need it most, you find you’ve left the superman outfit at home…
Finally, let’s all stoke up our energy levels at Columba class’s cake sale this Friday, 2nd May. They’re the only class going it alone on a cake sale, so please donate baked goodies if you can. And if you can’t give cake, buying cake at the sale is just as good!
…to this, in 5 minutes. The magic of cake sales.
Aquila class and the Nursery get their chance to shine – and earn! – with the last cake sale of term this Friday, 28th March. Please donate baked goods and other tasty treats: savoury bakes and fruit snacks are also popular, as last Friday’s Sports Snack stall made very clear.
Let’s see if this Friday we can outsell Andromeda and Draco, still in the lead from January with a massive take of £176.92 (=£5.89 per minute! All in 10p pieces!)*
I’ve eaten all my healthy snacks…

…now can I have my pudding, please?
Tufnell Park School went all out for Sport Relief today, with Street Dance in the hall all afternoon, a fantastic Sports Snacks stall in the playground and some fun games alongside.
Healthy just tastes SO good!
A lot of “thank you”s are due: to everyone who donated healthy food and drinks – the contributions were truly amazing.
To everyone who chopped and prepped and washed up – what a team!
To the school, of course, for continued mind-boggling enthusiasm – bit of extra? Yep, we’ll do it!
And to all of you who spent and ate: the stall alone raised £147.00 and the total raised by the school (at £1 per dancer) is still to come.
Finally, at the risk of an Oscar-length tribute, thanks to the lovely guys at Fam greengrocers on Fortess Road, who handed over a massive basket of fruit and veg, simply saying, “Children are our future.” Well, quite.
Street dance: it can get a little crazy out there.
And that’s even before the Juniors get going!
Is school always this fun? (Answer: of course!)
Meanwhile, in a kitchen right next door…
The best 50p you ever drank!
Just look at that gorgeous fruit.
Green apples = green jelly. Simple, really.
Thanks for the fruit, guys. Everyone shop at Fam!
It’s ALWAYS good to have a healthy snack to hand!
…and we will juice them! On Friday 21st March, we’re raising money for Sport Relief and the HSA is running a NON-CAKE STALL as part of the festivities.
We need your donations of fruit and vegetables (for snacking or juicing), savoury bakes, popcorn and other healthy options to sell as “sports snacks”. If you’ve got a blender or juicer to lend, please let us know – or come along with it, and help us whizz up fresh drinks for sale.
There will be fundraising sports challenges for children after school as well as during school hours – look out for details in the PACT folders very shortly. And please bring your food donations to school reception from Thursday afternoon onwards. All those star-jumping sports fans are going to need something healthy to eat…
How many words can YOU make out of “harvest”?
Harvest assembly last Friday was led with panache by Columba class. We got great story-telling and clever word play using the letters in “H-A-R-V-E-S-T” to make some thought-provoking points about our food, where we get it and what we do with it. So many of you donated (the food went to London food banks), we thought you’d like to see the snaps…
Columba rock out with a harvest song – it’s like the Isley brothers were in the room…
