Hurrah for the Hat Parade! This year, with its early Easter, out of doors there were precious few signs of the new season on the last day of Spring term. You had to be in Tufnell Park School hall to get your fill of chicks, blooms, bunnies and blossom – not to mention a whole host of wild and wacky items from far further afield.
Thanks so much to Fiona Cushley for supplying the lion’s share of images, and to Jo Pickering for sending in equally welcome additions. These on-head artworks just have to be recorded for everyone who couldn’t be there – and for posterity, of course.
- Bunny’s leaving for school…
- …and who knows, he may meet some colleagues along the way.
- Here come the hats!
- Spot any future winners among them?
- Maybe…
- “I’m here – just incognito.”
- Hats wait patiently for their moment of glory.
- And here is the poor, poor woman with the impossible job of judging!
- For the rest of us – just sit back and enjoy the show.
- Hmmm… winner on the way!
- The attention to detail is always astounding.
- And lights were a big thing in this year’s designs.
- Some are almost scary.
- Mr Scarborough’s voice only JUST held out (but it did).
- Our gallant staff always get into the spirit, even though they’re not in the running for a prize.
- If they were, we might have a winner here.
- The sea of hats! Paris… Milan… New York… Tufnell Park.
- Which came first?
- As the end draws near, the tension starts to show.
- Prize time! Here’s one winner…
- …and another (before the announcement)…
- …and another.
- Look at that smile!
- C’mon boys! We can’t all win.
- It’s a joy just to take part.
