The days are cold and dark and half the school is off sick… but nothing can spoil the magic of what happened to our school hall overnight last night.
The team of Tufnell Park Christmas fairies have done it again: the hall is transformed into a fantastic frosty ceiling-scape of starry snowflakes and billowing gossamer. In between the stars, more than 300 silvery icicles are inscribed with the children’s wishes. Who knew a hundred repetitions of “I want an X-box, NOW!” could be so enchanting?
- There’s that moment at the start of a long night when you wonder what on earth you’re doing there…
- This lot seem pretty organised, though.
- And then it all starts to come together.
- Just lie on your back and look at the stars…
- Pah. It was nothing.
- Every child in the school wrote a Christmas wish on one of those silver icicles.
