What the HSA Committee talked about…

…on Wednesday 26th March.

We hope you like the ways we’re spending your money!

Teachers have come forwards with great ideas for the HSA’s Learning Treats fund, and several were discussed in detail. We’ve committed to supporting the next two subject weeks – Literacy through Art, and Science – plus a music project to be decided by Ms Brereton when she returns to teaching next term.

Further suggestions are a genuine drama production in collaboration with a professional theatre, and philosophy for children by a really engaging practitioner who gives teachers training, too. We’d love to fund everything but we don’t yet have enough money – so fundraising is on the next meeting’s agenda.

If you’ve got an idea or an opinion about what we’re up to, please join us on Wednesday 30th April – or email us now.

Over Easter, work is beginning on the Infants’ Playground. The final touches – stencilling, painting, planting – will be completed as part of a massive volunteer effort on Friday 16th May. Via Business in the Community’s annual Give & Gain Day, we’ve got thirty volunteers from Flamingo Consulting coming to help and we want to make sure they have a really good experience. We’ll need plenty of parents to get involved, working with the business volunteers or helping with a big picnic lunch by the pond. Watch out for more notices!

It was brilliant to see fresh faces at the meeting. We co-opted two members into new roles: Clare Devane joins the HSA comms team, and Mags Wild is the newly-created resource manager. She’s already on the case with a new shed for our gear: it’s all glamour at the HSA.
