Our Year 5 students came face to face with ancient history this week, thanks to Mary Ruddy of the Museum of London. Mary’s an archaeologist who already helps out at the school as a reading volunteer (we’re always looking for reading support – please contact us if you would like to find out more). She led the class for a fantastic archaeology session where they discovered, cleaned and identified historic artefacts from Medieval and Roman times. And bones, there are always bones…
- Tufnell Park’s very own Indiana Jones addresses the team…
- …who quickly get to work.
- It was life, people, perhaps as we know it.
- Year of the Goat?
- Meticulous cleansing is the archaeologist’s special skill.
- Back at base, the finds are examined…
- …and discussed…
- …and carefully preserved.
